FastChart Baseball was the result of founder Chip Dill’s quest to find a better way to track players, chart their tendencies and manage a game. The concept behind FastChart Baseball is to remove the paper from charting and make a tedious process much easier. With the advent of the personal tablet, charting is now much easier and more powerful than ever before.
Chip had a successful collegiate career in the early eighties as a right handed pitcher. He began at the powerhouse Cerritos College where he played with many future Collegiate coaches and Major League players. After playing at Cerritos College, Chip went on to play at the University of Arizona. Dill was also drafted three times in the Major League Amateur Draft. Once Chip finished his playing career he began his professional career with the Costa Mesa Fire Department.
Upon returning to Baseball after working in public safety, Dill soon began to see an opportunity to integrate technology into the game. Chip finished a full career as a firefighter in October 2012. While working as a fire captain, he traveled around the country teaching fire departments how to use a popular simulation software product used worldwide. He was privy to many of the facets of the software’s development and drew from those experiences to assist him in creating FastChart Baseball.
Chip recently retired as the Pitching Coach at the University of Tennessee to devote all his time to FastChart Baseball. The task of calling pitches and tracking results led him to design an easier way to capture information that leads to creating detailed scouting reports. Much of what baseball teams chart, never gets evaluated. FastChart Baseball will make collecting data easier and more useful.
